“Be imitators of God, and walk in love.” Ephesians 5:1-2
There are many scriptures written about LOVE. Ephesians 5:12 speaks to the heart of those who recognize what it means to walk in love, and be imitators of the One who created us to love one another.
God loved us enough to sacrifice His only Son. He demonstrated love
when Jesus left the comfort of heaven to become a man. Christ suffered
tremendous pain. He didn’t deserve to hang on a cross, or die a horrible
death. God sent Jesus to take the sins of the world and provide eternal
life for those who believe in Him. He demonstrated the power of LOVE.
Jesus taught us to love one another. He demonstrated how to live with compassion and kindness. He cared for those not loved by others and renewed broken hearts with the love of mercy and grace.
Often, we’re taught to take care of “Number One”. We focus only on our needs. We race ahead and miss special moments to demonstrate the love of Jesus. We forget how it feels to be blessed! But, God wants us to SHARE the gift of His joy! He provides tools to take care of His children and SHARE the love He gives to us.
How can we be imitators of Christ? We must first humble our hearts for Him and recognize how very much we are loved. He loves us, because God IS love. We have been given a heart to glorify Him with compassionate gifts of greatness.
We must open our hearts a little wider and take time to see what God wants us to notice. We WILL be blessed, if we simply take time to help those in need and LOVE ONE ANOTHER. "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'’ Matthew 25: 40 NIV
Dear God, Thank you for the power of amazing grace! Thank you for the offering of Your love. Forgive us when we forget to share the love of Jesus. Open our eyes, so we will recognize those who need to be cradled in care. And, help us remember; whatever we do for others, we do for YOU. Amen
