And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." Luke 2: 8-10
The shepherds found Mary, Joseph and Jesus! They shared the good news of His birth, praising God for all they had seen and heard. The birth of Jesus was perfect in God’s plan and happened just the way He promised. He was born to be our Savior.
Jesus was sent to save us. He is the bridge between heaven and earth.
He invites us to HUMBLE our hearts like the shepherds, REJOICE in our
salvation, tell the good news of His love and gratefully ADORE Him.
Oh, how we NEED the Savior! He conquered death so we can have eternal life. He proved how much He loves us by taking the sin of the world and giving us HOPE for what’s to come. He came to bring LIGHT to the darkness and demonstrate the power of God’s mighty LOVE. He came to give us abundant life.
“Do not be afraid” to seek the One who has already shown how much He loves us. He is worthy of ALL of our love. He is worthy of our praise and He is worthy of being welcomed into our hearts at Christmas and EVERY day of our lives.
Dear God, Thank you so very much for Jesus. Our hearts are humbled as we consider how He was welcomed to the world. We will gratefully remember the events of His birth and glorify You with our loving praise! As we open our hearts and welcome the Savior, we will never forget the greatest gift of Christmas is the present of His presence in our lives. Amen
