“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”1 Peter 2:24 NIV
As we consider the events which led to the crucifixion of Christ, we begin to realize the mighty love God has for each one of us. We understand Jesus carried much more than the cross as He walked to the hill where he would die…
Jesus stumbled and fell as He carried the weight of our sin. He suffered from what He was chosen to bare and sweat blood in agonizing moments of pain. As we consider events which led to his death, we look to the cross and realize God understands the heart of those who suffer.
In moments of conflict, often we feel God doesn’t hear our cries of despair. But, He does! He knows our every thought and He knows our hearts. He invites us to consider how very much we are loved. And He patiently waits for us to surrender our lives to him.
When we allow God to lift us to his loving arms of peace, we begin to realize how it feels to be carried by the One who gave His life so we will live again. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 NIV
Jesus didn’t stay on the cross. He died and rose again! Through his death, burial, and resurrection, He paid the price for our sins and purchased eternal life for those who believe in Him…
Salvation waits at the cross which was held in the arms of Jesus. None of us are deserving of His grace. But, we are worthy of salvation if we choose to accept it and recognize how good it feels to be carried in the arms of His everlasting love.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for Jesus. We reflect on the suffering of your Son who He died on the cross to take our sin. Fill us with desire to meet you at the cross and understand what it means to be carried in your loving arms of strength. Help us remember we are deserving of your love. Humble our hearts to recognize the gift of your salvation. And help us feel Your PEACE, as you fill us with desire to know you even more…Amen
