“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 NIV
We decorate our homes, shop for gifts and attend holiday events as we prepare for Christmas. But how do we prepare our hearts to receive the King of Kings and learn to embrace the glory of His birth? How do breathe in the love of Jesus and begin to understand how it feels to have a relationship with Him?
Christmas is a season of opportunity to allow God to fill us with what we need. We all NEED the love of the Savior and a reminder of why we are treasured and loved. Christ shows us amazing things as we take time to look and respond with a heart that is faithful.
When we become distracted by busy days of December, we need to step away and make time for the Savior. He is deserving of being celebrated EVERY day. We mustn’t waste time spinning our wheels or worrying about planning the perfect Christmas.
We are not perfect. We sin and fall short of the glory of God. But He calls us worthy of mercy and grace. He loves us and knows when we’re ready to renew our hearts and patiently receive ALL He provides. God is honored when we TRUST in Him and wait for His will to be revealed. Because of Jesus, we will receive the power of His LOVE and strengthen our hearts to BELIEVE good will come.
GOOD will come as we prepare for Christmas and make room for Jesus to dwell. We can become ready for the holidays without expectation of what has to happen to be faithfully filled. God knows what we need. He will help us embrace the JOY of Christmas and discover PERFECT PEACE.
“Oh, come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!”
Dear God, thank you for sending Your Son. Open our hearts to experience this beautiful season. Cradle us in care as we sit with you and open our hearts for calm. Thank you for Your mighty love. Help us walk closer to Jesus and welcome perfect peace. Renew our hearts to remember we don’t have to be perfect to receive the gifts of Your greatness. Thank you for taking care of us and those we love. Thank you for Jesus! Amen
