The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29: 11

Christmas is getting close. We peek at our calendars and worry there’s not enough time to get everything done. We cringe in the countdown and create unwanted stress in our lives. And in the midst of frustration and doubt we forget what matters the most, preparing our hearts for Jesus!

God wants us to examine our lives and remember where PEACE is found. It doesn’t matter how many cookies we bake, or if everything is decorated perfectly at home. It’s okay if we can't attend every holiday function or wrap presents with beautiful paper and bows.

Holiday traditions are fun to share with those we love. But we mustn’t lose sight of reflecting on the birth of Jesus and preparing our hearts to welcome His PEACE when we need to slow down and focus.

God wants us to RECEIVE His greatest gift! He provides STRENGTH to sustain us. Presents, food and decorations are a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas and share with family and friends. It is also a gift of opportunity to humbly welcome the LOVE of Jesus.

Jesus, precious Jesus lightens the darkness. He is HOPE for the weary, PEACE in the worry and STRENGTH at the mention of His name. When we need Christmas calm, He holds us together, cradles us in care and hears the prayers of our praise.

God IS WITH US. He provides what we need. He is present in this moment and in the in-betweens. Because of Jesus we have HOPE that is eternal and complete. God brought us the present of PEACE when His will was fulfilled by our Savior. "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth PEACE to those on whom his favor rests." Luke 2: 14

Dear God, Thank you for the breath of Your holiness. Forgive us when we become frustrated by things that should bring peace and joy. Help us examine our hearts as we prepare for Christmas. Guard our hearts and remind us when we need to slow down and receive what You provide. Thank you for the glory of this beautiful season and the special ways we celebrate with family and friend. Christmas. Thank you for the many ways you help us welcome JOY and the gift of a grateful heart. Amen
