“Come," Jesus said. So, Peter got out of the boat. He walked on the water toward Jesus. But when Peter saw the wind, he was afraid. He began to sink. He cried out, “Lord! Save me!” Right away Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “Your faith is so small!” he said. “Why did you doubt me?” Matthew 14: 29-31 NIRV
Jesus demonstrated the power of His love. He performed many miracles. Peter walked on water. But when He began to sink, He called for Jesus to help. His faith was weakened and He was afraid. When we are afraid, God longs for us to BELIEVE more, so we will suffer less.
There will be days when fear will diminish PEACE. Worry will squelch our STRENGTH and try to make us believe we will never be able to let go of anxious thoughts. But Jesus will help us step in FAITH, TRUST and OBEY and walk where He wants us to go.
When we find ourselves sinking, the sense of need drives us to the One who saves when we PRAY to be rescued. Jesus pulls us from waves of worry. When we’re ready to be lifted, He leads us safely to the shore. He hears our prayers for STRENGTH and is honored when we bravely surrender self-will and welcome the will of the Father.
There WILL be storms in our lives, but God will help us remain faithful to BELIEVE in His promise for protection. Surrendering to the One who has power to do great things will help us release what needs to be gone. We will reap the reward of following Jesus when we find JOY in the journey and walk closer to the wholeness of our heavenly reward..
Dear God, Thank you! You demonstrate Your holiness when we need to be reminded NOT to doubt. Thank you for mercy, grace and the miracle of walking unafraid. When we take a leap of FAITH, help us step in truth, surrender the worry of wonder and faithfully follow Christ. Thank you for what happens when we let go of fear and breathe in the fullness of Jesus! Forgive us when we forget we NEED YOU every day of our lives. When self-will becomes greater than YOUR will for us, restore our hearts with desire to remain on the path of righteousness and walk toward the wholeness of heaven. Thank you for knowing where Your love will take us as we remain tethered to Christ. Amen
